Officials should think about taxpayers

I attended the public meeting on the closing of the Commonwealth Center. A budget for just 48 children is $8.3 million, which is way too high and has been high for years. Once again, like all the state agencies, too many high-paid chiefs!

For 48 students, four psychiatrists and four psychologist positions, doesn’t that seem like a lot? These positions alone amount to more than $1 million in the budget, so let’s reform the Commonwealth Center so that, just maybe, it can be saved.

I also attended the town hall meeting Del. Chris Saxman, R-Staunton, and Bill Leighty held on cost-cutting in state government. This is posted online at http://www.vacostcutting.blogspot.com. If this is the best they can come up with, they are wasting their time and our money.

They should look at all the money that is spent before July 1 of each year. Money that should go back to the general fund. This is millions statewide!

A lot of policy should be looked at also. When a new hire can start work in a position – making $16,000 more than the last person that held the position for 20 years – something is wrong.

I gave Mr. Leighty 27 ways to save money. Guess what? No response. No answer to my ideas!

Like I’ve said before, it is time for our delegates to put bills in that will save the taxpayers money or let’s replace them this coming election!
