Liberals to blame for nations' downfall
Mayor Tom Reynolds made the decision not to seek re-election for 2008. He should have made this decision eight years ago. If so, Waynesboro would be better off financially.
I trust voters in Ward B will elect Bruce Allen. Also, I encourage Tim Williams and Frank Lucente to seek re-election for the purpose of negating foolish or absurd action taken by the two liberals (Nancy Dowdy and Lorie Smith).
The November referendum (passed by approximately 30 percent of the voters) was a clever way of appeasing the voters and raising taxes to fund these projects. This gave the council a way out, i.e., the voters approved these projects and therefore the council must raise taxes.
Why doesn't government operate like a private company- When money gets tight, they lay off people and reduce spending (contract jobs, etc.) without raising the price of their products.
Unfortunately, the liberals have brought this country to its knees. They now control the courts, universities, local schools, military, destroyed the Constitution, prevented the U.S. from being energy dependent on foreign oil, no refineries, no nuclear reactors, etc., all with disastrous results.
The biggest threat to the U.S. is not the terrorists (al-Qaida, Taliban, etc.) but the liberals who now control all of our institutions.
Is the philosophy and goal of the liberals the same as Karl Marx-
Will research of the human mind ever reveal why individuals vote for candidates who make them subservient to the government such as McCain, Clinton, Obama, etc.-
Will America survive- Will the lives of individuals who gave their lives for our freedom be in vain-

Racetrack unwelcomed by nearby residents
As a longtime resident of Fishersville, I cannot believe the Board of Expoland and any of our elected officials would consider a motocross motorcycle racetrack in this area.
For the last few years, there has been article after article in newspapers and newscasts concerning the traffic problems on Exit 91 from Interstate 64, Route 608 and Ladd Road. Another added attraction such as this motocross would bring in more trucks, trailers, etc., to further congest the area with traffic that these highways cannot handle.
If one lives next to Expo, or close by, there are many spring, summer and fall days and evenings that one cannot entertain outside, just sit and enjoy our property or even have a window open for fresh air due to the noise that comes from Expo's monster truck shows and tractor pulls - not only from the machines themselves but also from the public address system. I am not against any of these events, but their location.
We have been thankful over the years that these events do not go on all the time. However, the motocross, I understand, will operate seven days per week.
Has any consideration been given to the hospital and churches in the area- If our residents of Augusta County are interested in these types of events, then investigative efforts need to be made to find a location that is not close to a subdivision or properties that would be disturbed by noise, traffic, dust and pollution.
Augusta County covers more than 1,000 square miles, and I certainly would think there should be rural properties more suitable than Expo.
