Congress has shown a need for term limits

The Democratic Party has been hijacked by the Euro-socialist component of its radical element. The current level of confidence in Congress, due to the arrogance and impudence of elected officials who have created an environment that virtually assures their continued re-elections, is at an embarrassingly low level.

The elected men and women of our federal government are in their respective jobs to serve at our pleasure, to represent us and to provide the laws that protect the United States and the resources to develop and continue to provide the nation with the quality of life we want, need and demand. I am afraid that many of them are there for their own agendas and power trips that have long ago lost sight of us. Many continue to be re-elected to perpetuate their own “empires” of wealth, power and unbelievable actions of partisan politics pandering to many diverse entities that have no concern for us while continuing to bleed us for funding of the misguided or blatantly un-American philosophies.

I suggest that the United States create an environment of electing our representatives with the control by us, not only by being active voters, but by having candidates with term limits. We would start by supporting candidates that honestly support this concept and promise (with vigilant attention) to change the laws that would require term limits.

Term limits empower the faction that is the true source of our mutual displeasure - the lobbyists, for whom there are no term limits. Limit congressmen to a few terms, and the lobbyists will be the ones running the roost, if they aren’t already.

The American public has done just fine limiting terms the past couple of election cycles.

Term limits? Wasn’t that one of the many broken promises of the republican “Contract With America” from some years ago?
