A judge Wednesday sentenced a Waynesboro woman to one year in prison for having sex with two teen boys and fraudulent credit card use.

Cassandra Mawyer, 28, took the credit card from a man whom she was living with and bought $292 in clothing items in October, Waynesboro police said. She then had consensual sex with two boys, ages 13 and 14.

Detectives were investigating the credit card fraud when the sex acts came to light. Police later found letters between Mawyer and the teens and seized underwear allegedly worn during sex acts.

Judge Humes J. Franklin followed a plea deal Wednesday, sentencing Mawyer to one year in prison for credit card fraud and 12 months in jail on each misdemeanor child sex charge. Run concurrently, Mawyer’s sentence is one year. She was placed on four years probation and ordered to pay restitution.

This girl has been participating in criminal activity all her life.  It is time she was jailed and forced to grow up, and quit acting so weird.

I do not believe in causeless desires. The desire presupposes a need—for what?

Even in that or with that, if one removes the vien of religion from the equation, what in and of itself makes “this” evil? How young are other “animal” species breed? In fact, we are all from the same domain, kingdom, phylum, class, but different order. Yet with difference of order, the cat, whale, human, and bat have the same forelimb.

Who ever said the DNA was perfect? Yet, we set standards and divisions within ourselves by what standard?

Yet, if the boy had this “mishap” with a girl his age then it is “normal”, by whose standard?

I think we groove ourself into problems when we classify items by cycles of sun rather than cycles of the mind.

Before Christianity, under age sex and labor was conditonally acceptalbe and expected, it was a benefit and guidance of society—at that time. It was the culture’s morality that deemed that acceptable and even sanctioned by god.

Now we have it reversed, society’s cutlure has changed and now “that” is now unbecoming.

What if people are attracted to each other by mental capacities and not just sensory? We understand how the brains works on sensory levels, but on levels of consciousness—we haven’t touched it’s nerve.

My hypothesis is this: that brain and consciousness work in a 1-to-1 correspondence, and that various forms of religions suppress consciousness, which prevents brain growth. (this works well in a Venn diagram form)

I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that the law is misapplied when it comes to cases like this. However, the courts must appease attitudes—ask Socrates. smile

zarxo; I don’t think it is a related cause “hormones in the food supply”, It is a normal reaction in the process of growing up and going through puberty. It is more of a moral problem with society of condoning the breaking of the law. Go back and look at Prohibition in the 1920’s. You prohibit something and people want it more, for that matter look at the Bible and what happened with Adam and Eve, you might say since the beginning of time mankind has had no self control. This woman let her inhibitions override her sense of morality and any fear of prosecution for her crime.

I remember at 13 when I delivered papers for the Staunton Leader how some of the lonley house wives would flirt. As I think back now, if I wasn’t so shy. “Boy would I.“ smile

—but do the opposite sex think the same?

But we don’t think the hormones pumped into farm animals or genetics used to push for a plush crop have nothing to do with overrly mature teens. “nah”

ccwhssrs; That isn’t the point, she is 28 and they are juveniles in the eyes of the law. Sure most guys would probably do the same, that is the age of exploring the hidden secrets of sex. The point is that they ARE juveniles and are not old enough to make the decision for themselves the law clearly states that. She violated the law by encouraging the act and participation in the act but the punishment does not fit the act. It is a proven fact that when women commit this type of crime there is a double standard. Just place yourself in her position as a man having sex with 13 and 14 year old girls. What do you think the outcome would be then? We sometimes are simply to quick to condone the criminal acts of others without thinking about the consequences of those actions and remarks. A good example is the stupidity of marching in support of the cop killers in California in an attempt to turn it into a race issue. Maybe if those people spent more time correcting the bad behavior of their children instead of condoning and wasting time marching they wouldn’t have the trouble in the first place. As I have said before “ignorance should be painful”.

Oh, come on! When I was 13, if some woman had sex with me, it would not have ruined my life. It probably would have been the best day ever.

That’s why I quoted the article - what the heck would cause the reporter to use the word ‘consensual’ when referring to minors?! I also agree that if this had been a man there would’ve been outrage for no jail time for the sex w/minor charges.  I feel strongly as a woman and the mother of 3 sons that there should be NO double standard for female sex offenders - a pedophile is a pedophile, regardless of their gender!

If it wasn’t for the credit card fraud, she would not have gotten any time in jail!  This area of Virginia places much more emphasis on “things” and possessions than on the lives of our children!

The sex was not consensual because the boys were not old enough to legally consent.  If she were a man, she would have gotten time in addition to the credit card fraud.

This is disgusting all the way around. This woman should have received far more than the slap on the wrist she got. And I’m confused; how could she have had consensual sex with two boys, ages 13 and 14?

I think a call to O’Reilly is in order. What crook allowed the plea bargain in the first place. Watch out Franklin Fox News is coming.
