The Waynesboro man beaten by a baseball bat last month — which led to felony charges against three men — is facing a charge of his own.

Eduardo “Piku” Herrera, 36, couldn’t resist retaliation, Waynesboro police said. He allegedly entered the assailants’ apartment two days after the alleged bat attack and took a $200 Sony stereo system. He was caught on video on one of the hallway cameras mounted in the apartment building at 260 North Commerce Avenue.

Court records show he faces a charge of entering a house to commit larceny.

Apartment 206 has been busy lately.

On Dec. 19, police arrested three men there on charges of malicious wounding and armed robbery for allegedly beating Herrera in a dispute over a 12-pack of beer.

Herrera shared his account of the incident with The News Virginian on Dec. 22.

Police said he stole the stereo system that afternoon, between 3 and 5 p.m.

On Dec. 27 police responded to Apartment 206 again, finding a man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. He survived.

Christian Perez Velez, 19, faces a malicious wounding charge in that case.

It appears that apartment 206 needs to be shut down, all tenants evicted.
