Police reported discovery a dead man’s body, found at about 12:20 p.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery.

Authorities await an autopsy report, but have labelled the death an apparent suicide.

The body was found on the Thirteenth Street side of the cemetery by another man unrelated to the victim, Sgt. Kelly Walker said.

Police declined to identify the man.

Thank you for not using the pain of this family as frontpage news.
This family has been through an extraodinary amount of sadness in recent years - struggling through this will be extremely difficulty - they don’t deserve to have it plastered all over the papers.
We ask that you continue to respect the privacy of the family and their friends. Please let them grieve privately. Allow them to absorb the magnitude and the reasons for this all in their own time.
Please let them do this in peace, surrounded by their frinds and family -and not swarming media. The cross this family has to bear is so heavey - they don’t need the added weight of a reporter or two.

soon2bfree… I am glad that the News Virginian did not go in depth for reporting on this story. I was attending a funeral for another suicide victim yesterday, when I found this mans body. I asked the police not to release my name because I did not want to answer alot of questions because I will still grieving. I feel sorry for the family of the man who lost his life, however still mad at him because I found him lying there, dead. His face, the scene, his body haunted me through the night last night… so, I am glad they did not go in depth in their reporting!

I know who this man was, and my deepest sympathies go out to his family. I’m kind of hoping the media doesn’t release his name. I think the family has gone through enough in recent years.

I betcha I could a bunch of them if I looked hard enough… this was great “in Depth” reporting. I am surprised that you all would not “dig “ a little deeper into this story
