FORT DEFIANCE — Fort Defiance slipped to fourth in the Valley District standings as it fell to visiting Broadway 56-45 Friday night.

Trevor Lam scored a team-high 17 points for the Indians, while Ryan Byrd and Zack Powell pitched in with nine apiece.

Mike Richardson had a game-high 20 for the Gobblers, followed by Zack Walton with 13.

Fort (12-6, 5-4 Valley District) plays at R.E. Lee in another big district matchup on Tuesday.

Broadway also won the JV contest.

 

Stuart Hall defeats Riverfront

STAUNTON — Stuart Hall picked up a big win at home Friday, taking out Riverfront 44-27.

Mitch Conley scored a team-high 13 points, Kola Danisa had eight points to go with 16 rebounds and six blocks, and birthday boy Trae Lawrence notched 10 points.

The Dragons play at Mt. Carmel on Monday night.

 

FISHERSVILLE — In honor of two parents who recently lost their battle with cancer, Wilson Memorial hosted Hoops for Hope Night on Friday.

Kayley Argenbright had the game of her life, scoring a game-high 22 points to pay a fitting tribute to her mother, who passed away from pancreatic cancer last summer, and the Hornets topped Page County 63-31.

Seniors Molly Huss and Megan Swortzel also came up big, scoring 13 and 10, respectively.

Dakota Dean led the Panthers with 14 points.

The Hornets (7-10, 3-8 Shenandoah District) play at Buffalo Gap on Tuesday.

 

Eagles too much for Gap

SWOOPE — Buffalo Gap came up short against district-leading East Rockingham on Friday night, falling 52-39.

Morgan Houle and Abby Erskine each notched 10 points for the Bison.

Madison Comer scored a game-high 15 for the Eagles.

Gap (3-14, 2-9 Shenandoah District) will host Wilson Memorial in another district contest on Tuesday.

 

Stuart Hall wins fifth in a row

STAUNTON — Stuart Hall knocked off undefeated Riverfront, 48-42, on Friday for its fifth straight win.

Katie Hoover led with 23 points and 19 rebounds, while Sarah Mellen contributed with eight points and eight rebounds.

The Dragons are now 10-2 and go on the road to Ridgeview Christian on Tuesday.
