Area officials prepped for today's snow

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Shenandoah Valley was preparing Saturday for a winter storm that could bring as much as 6 inches of snow to the area starting early today and lasting throughout the day.

Gary Critzer, Waynesboro’s director of emergency management, said the storm was set to start about 1 this morning and could continue until late tonight.

Critzer said his office was monitoring the latest models on the storm with weather officials. He described as “not horrific’’ but said there could be some isolated heavy snow.

VDOT crews pretreated area roads on Friday prior to the storm, said VDOT Staunton Spokeswoman Sandy Myers.

The snowstorm would mark the first substantial one in the area since the surprising one in late October of last year.
