Drawing a future

After two days of working closely with downtown Waynesboro property owners, architects and designers showed off building and riverfront sketches Tuesday night at Blue Ridge Christian Fellowship.

City officials and designers spoke of the slow, incremental pace of downtown revitalization, but said the city has gained momentum.

Although the downtown area has seen some people "sitting on the fence" about investment, the sketches and brainstorming sessions could give the city a "shot in the arm," said Chris Schooley, a landscape architect with Gay and Neel Inc. in Staunton.

About 35 people attended.
