A man who was hit by a vehicle on Rosser Avenue two weeks while trying to flee from police, died Monday morning at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The death of Brian Eric Wrenn, 26, of Staunton was confirmed by Waynesboro Police Sgt. Brian Edwards.

Wrenn had been hospitalized at UVa since the night of Jan. 25.

Police said Wrenn attempted to take a humidifier from Walmart, and fled on foot after being confronted by store personnel.

Police found Wrenn at Ruby Tuesday’s, and he then ran toward Rosser.

He was struck by a 1997 Saab  in the far northbound lane of Rosser. The driver of the Saab was not charged in the accident.

After being airlifted to UVa for treatment of severe head injuries, Wrenn was placed in a medically induced coma.

However, he remained in critical condition after he was hospitalized.
