Fire and rescue personnel extricated an accident victim from his wrecked pickup truck Sunday night on U.S. 340 in Crimora, after the truck ran off the road and struck a tree while heading north.

Virginia State Trooper G.D. McCoy said the driver of the Ford Pickup truck, Michael Shane Floyd, 36, of Waynesboro, was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center with injuries not thought life threatening.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. just south of Thorofare Road and remains under investigation. McCoy said it is not believed alcohol was a factor in the accident.
