The man suspected of firing a gun at a car in a Fishersville parking lot was shot in the foot two weeks earlier on Commerce Avenue in Waynesboro, authorities said Tuesday.
Police are seeking Arthur Thomas Allen, 28, of the Waynesboro-Staunton area, on 11 felony warrants.
At 8 p.m. Friday, Allen allegedly stepped from behind a pair of trash bins at the 7-Eleven off U.S. 250 and fired at a car that sped away, Augusta County Sheriff’s Lt. A.C. Powers said. Nobody was hurt.
Authorities that night caught up with Allen inside Briarwood Apartments, less than a mile from the store, but lacked sufficient evidence to hold him, Powers said.
“We are looking for him,” Powers said. “I’m sure he knows we are by now.”
Authorities have identified a suspect in Allen’s shooting April 16 at 260 N. Commerce Ave. in Waynesboro, but need his help to make an arrest, said Waynesboro police Sgt. Kelly Walker.
“So basically we’re in a standstill because of his lack of cooperation,” Walker said.
Authorities have been told that incident was the result of a conflict over a woman, Walker said.
Authorities describe Allen as black, 6 feet tall and weighing about 220 pounds.
People with information about him are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (540) 245-5333 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017. Callers who provide information leading to an arrest could receive cash awards of as much as $1,000.
