A Stuarts Draft man is charged with using online file-sharing networks to gather child pornography.
Authorities said they seized a computer belonging to Christopher Wayne Howell, 20, and discovered pornographic videos, including a 38-minute clip “which contained graphic bondage of children,” according to a search warrant.
Howell faces 40 counts of possession of child pornography. Authorities arrested him Tuesday.
Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force alerted Investigator Brian Jenkins of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office shortly after catching on to Howell, Jenkins said.
“What’s going on is the individual is using file-sharing networks,” Jenkins said. “When you’re on those – Limewire, Kazaa, Napster – you’re basically sharing your computer with anyone who wants to look.”
Howell collected the images between January and May 20, five days before authorities seized his Dell laptop, authorities said.
