The Staunton-based Visulite Cinemas announced today plans to build a 10-screen movie theater on property along Lew Dewitt Boulevard in Waynesboro.
The new theater is scheduled to open in November 2010 within a few hundred feet of Lowes, according to Adam Greenbaum, Visulite Cinemas owner, and is already zoned commercial.
The proposed theater will be a digital multiplex and will feature mainstream movies and bring three-dimensional projection. The new theater will allow for digital projection of live concerts and major sporting events.
“Since moving here five years ago and reopening the original Visulite Cinema in Staunton, my wife and I have developed a deep connection to this community,” said Visulite owner Adam Greenbaum in a statement. “We intend to be here a very long time, presenting the very best entertainment.”
Visulite Cinemas operates three movie theaters in the region – the Visulite Twin and Dixie 4 in Staunton and the Vinegar Hill Theatre in Charlottesville.
Earlier this week, Golden Corral announced plans to build near the Lowe’s store on Lew Dewitt Boulevard also.
The plan for the theater along Lew Dewitt Boulevard is the second one proposed for Waynesboro’s west end in the last several months, with a theater also proposed for the Waynesboro Place off of Windigrove Drive. A public hearing is scheduled for Waynesboro Place this Monday.
