All 33 public schools in Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County met full accreditation on 2007-08 Standards of Learning assessments, according to the Virginia Department of Education today.
Across Virginia, 95 percent of the commonwealth's schools met full accreditation, according to Billy K. Cannaday Jr., Virginia's superintendent of public instruction.
Cannaday, in making the state announcement, said the results are a "credit to the educators, elected leaders, policy makers and parents whose sustained support for reform has been essential in raising student achievement."
Waynesboro Schools Superintendent Robin Crowder congratulated staff in a recent letter regarding the SOL testing results.
"The overall increases are a result of very hard work, a strong focus on student learning, developing relationships with students, and the ability to help each child master a great deal of essential knowledge,'' Crowder said.
